C SWEEPS
I pride myself on delivering a high quality and personal service.
I have a background in the emergency services with over 15 years experience as a Firefighter.
As a result I am extremely focussed on safety in the home and doing things to a high standard in a neat and tidy manner.
I am a National Association of Chimney Sweeps member. They are one of the leading trade associations and highly regarded by most insurance companies.
A full sweep Certificate is supplied on completion of the sweep adhering to the NACS code of conduct.
I am fully insured and all work is carried out to the highest standard.
I use the latest chimney sweep technology utilising Rodtech Rotary power sweep equipment. This resulting in a clean and highly effective sweep.
I can also offer traditional manual sweeping for those situations not suited to power sweeping.
WHY SWEEP?
If you have an open fire, wood burning stove, AGA, Rayburn or an Inglenook they all need regular sweeping.
The frequency of this sweep can vary depending on use and materials burnt, but all need sweeping at least once a year.
SMOKELESS FUEL: At least once a year
WOOD: Quarterly when in use
COAL: Twice a year when in use
A clean swept chimney has many benefits including significantly reduced risk of a chimney fire, help to prevent Carbon monoxide leak (see below) and ensure fireplace is working safely and efficiently.
BLOCKAGES
There are many reasons your flue can become blocked from Vermin, nests, dislodged cowl, deterioration of chimney. Regular sweeping helps eliminate this and reduce the risks caused from a blocked or faulty flue. I even offer a camera check so we can get a better idea of what's going on up there.
SOOT REMOVAL
Soot is a by product of combustion (burning), and overtime builds up and coats the chimney/flue. Depending on what you burn this can be a fine sugar like granual from clean dry timber or tar and creosote crystals from poor quality timber.
Unless removed periodically this soot can cause blockages, or even contribute to a chimney fire. Regular sweeping helps prevent this and reduces build up and even a dreaded soot fall.
TO ENSURE APPLIANCE IS WORKING EFFICENTLY
As a certified NACS sweep I will issue after completion a certificate recognised and requested by most insurance companies. This certificate is increasingly becoming essential for landlords insurance providers, and most home insurance policies.
HOW DO I SWEEP?
The method I use is Power sweeping with is the modern way to sweep most stoves and openfires. I use Rodtech rotary power sweeping technology for the safe efficient and highly effective sweeping of most liners and masonry flues.
For situations requiring a more traditional sweep I also offer a manual brush option.
Prices start from £60 with discounts for multi sweep.
CAMERA INSPECTION/ CHECK
To gain a real insight into your chimney and liner system, I offer a camera service. This shows exactly what is going on up the chimney, and can help highlight any blockages or internal issues such as nests or damage.
Stainless steel liners do not last forever and a camera inspection can help highlight any problems and advice on when it may need replacing.
Prices start from £80 including a sweep.
CARBON MONOXIDE (CO)
Blocked chimneys, (or any combustion),can cause deadly Carbon Monoxide. As a NACS chimney sweep it is my responsibility to make you aware of the dangers of CO and check or advise you on a suitable CO alarm and positioning.
CO is not only deadly it is also colourless and odourless so without a full working alarm you may be unaware you have an issue.
As an experienced Firefighter I will be happy to discuss the importance of safety in the home, and advise on how you can make your home a safe one.
CHIMNEY FIRES
Latest statistics show over 5000 chimney fires occur each year in England. Most of these are preventable. A regular sweep reduces the build up of soot, dangerous tar deposits, and prevent nests and other blockages.
A regular sweep
along with a Fire alarm and a Carbon Monoxide alarm help to ensure your household will be as a safe as it can be.
